My Hotpoint washer started making the same noise. I replaced the clutch and shifter with OEM parts but now it’s actually even worse (same noise just more often). What would you recommend checking next?
Did you also replace the spring? If so, the only thing left is the transmission pulley. Both parts are cheap, so I would give that a try
Great video, I have a few suggestions... 1st. Use a paper clip to hold open the tabs and use a thin head screw driver to open the tab ... my model actually has 4 tabs. 2nd a Caliberation needs to be done when the installation is done. 3rd After the calibration a. Diagnostic Test Both programs take about 10 to 15 minutes Let me know if you need further information Im glad to help out Nevertheless its a great video
Good tips!
Congratulations on picking up a Speed Queen. Are you keeping it or selling it?
Thanks! I am leaning towards keeping it. If I had the matching washer, that would make the decision a no-brainer!
I’ve gotta look into this! We have a 2 year old with the same issue. By far this is the best explanation on suspension rods. Thank you my friend! 👍🏼
Best of luck!
What about the lock won’t lock and start the load
Replace it
My washer was 90% identical; however, the drum was completely suspended by the rods/springs... if you follow the video's instructions on how to get the right part, you should be fine (Yes, I got mine from Amazon too). In my case, I found it easier just to pull the washer out completely and lay it on its side - that "zeroes" the tension on the "top" springs and they are easy to replace. Flipping it over has the same effect. When repaired and reset upright, you may need to 'bounce' the tub a bit manually for everything to set... Once it does, yes, it can still side/side but it is difficult to go up/down. My guess is the "free form/ Side-to-side" thing is so it can judge the load size. But the repair worked like a charm - $40- over $400? sign me up!
The motor mount bushing was worn on mine. It was the one with a c-clamp on to hold the motor. There is no parts for that replacement, they wanted to sell the entire motor. So ended up cutting a tires rubber and use it as a bushing. 3 years now there is no problem. Those rollers they dont go bad easily. My dryer is 10 years old, with the same model you have it was built 2012. The 2nd problem was the heater core that i replaced last year which cost $12.00. It has long way to live ^_^
Love the innovation! Great job!
Have the Bravos but just basic model. Out of balance often now. Tub moves around like I saw it move when you were moving the washer around. So looks like the Bravos has shocks. So would that be the problem?
Most likely, the rods but could also be a loose tub nut
Great video! Thank you!
Mine was on number 7 and it would not drain then popped up SC and stuck what can I do
I have a new GE washer in my new apartment and the problem was with the LID sensor and wouldn't go to the spin cycle
Where is the best place to get the rods?
…Too loud for nighttime use
I’m replacing the actuator but it seems that that part where the actuator hooks into it’s stuck it won’t move down or in the middle it’s stuck at the top where you said it will spin but not agitate
Disassemble/Remove the part (clutch) and clean/replace it. I have a video on how to replace the clutch if you are not sure
@@DuctTapeMechanic Thankyou now that I replaced the actuator I’m going to see if it works now if not I will do the clutch thing next the power is out here waiting for it to start up again I got the hook thing to move in the middle and down just was tuff then it loosened up but I’m do the clutch thing if it does ent work
@@DuctTapeMechanic what’s the video called I’m looking for it now
@@Rainissick ua-cam.com/video/CfDhnqsvoyU/v-deo.html
@@DuctTapeMechanic hey just making sure it’s making a noise like it wants to agitate but it doesn’t agitate after me changing the shifter thing you think it’s the clutch ? It’s making that noise like when it’s supposed to agitate but it’s not I think it is the clutch because that knob where the shifter is is hard to press up in the middle or down so yeah it may be the clutch
Thank you, this was my exact problem. We bought the part and it works great now.
Thank you was going crazy with that tab piece. You really have to jam down there to get it out only 1 tab buy jam that putty knife down in there.
My Maytag commercial technology top load is giving a f8 e1 error code, when I try to test each mechanism, "000" the lid lock does not work. any ideas???
This did the trick. 👍 Thank you for the video.
My plastic hub keeps stripping out... Replaced twice within a few months. DO you think there is an underlying issue present? Maybe with the drive gearcase?
Yes, the spines on the gearcase are worn/bent. Transmission needs to be replaced
@@DuctTapeMechanic is there a metal upgraded hub kit that works? If so would you consider doing a video on it
I have lost the paper with all the fault codes is there anyone that can point me in the right direction to find it
Try Red Loctite. It’s easier than epoxy.
Thanks a lot your informative knowledge is most appreciated
Your welcome!
Thank for this video. I was able to replace those suspension rods all by myself. Best part was I didn't break or scratch my nails doing it. I trick I used was to wrap a ratchet strap around the tub. Then, I hooked one of those black rubber bungee through it. Mine was long, so I wrapped it around the strap so it could lift the tub. Alone hook I attached to the top of the frame and the other end I attached to the bottom. I moved it around on each corner. This helped to keep the tub in position when I leaned the machine over to access the underneath. Kind of glad my husband wasn't here to help. Especially when I forgot to put the drain hose back in the pipe. I ran a load and made a huge mess. I had it right the first time, but then the hose connections were leaking, so I pulled it out to put new Teflon tape and gaskets in the hose connections. Now the floors are nice and clean.
That's awesome! Great work on fixing your machine by yourself!
My Temp/Soil/Spin buttons (GE GTW680BSJ6WS model) sometimes don't work (no matter how hard I press)...is that a motherboard issue and needs to be replaced?
Should the capacitor always ohm out at 60 or more?
Capacitance is measured in farads not ohms
Thanks for that
Mine is getting error code 5 I already replace motor and shifter motor
Keep that speed queen brother
Do you have any Video's on how to remove the top cover to replace the Suspension Support Rod DC97-16350C on the WA51A5505AV/US Model top loader?
My washer sounds like this in the spin cycle. Is it supposed to sound like this? ua-cam.com/video/lO7qTDfsxM0/v-deo.htmlsi=_XaFpzoA522tknrb
Wouldn’t a stripped basket driven hub cause the washer not to spin as well? When I try turning the basket plate, it turns freely, and won’t turn the basket. When it goes into spin cycle, it struggles to try and spin, stops, retry’s etc. Any advice would be much appreciated? Thank you!
If you can please respond? I’m trying to fix it for a customer. In a real bind lol. Thanks👍🏽
Thanks!

How do I stop my washing machine transmission from leaking grease
Great video! My code was F8 E1 (too long to fill error) I checked the water inlet valve and it seems the cold side motor/pump was busted, so I will replace the whole water inlet assembly. Luckily I can still run it on Hot only till the replacement piece arrives. Videos like this are amazing. saved me $500+ trying to buy a new or used washer.
Awesome! Good work!
What is the best way to fill it, Mine keeps jumping across my garage and I have to jump on it like it's a mechanical bull 🐂. Then hit the pause button to stop it and start over.
Most likely, you have bad suspension rods. Just search from a reputable online appliance part store by model number, and you should find the rods your machine requires. If your machine still bounces around after replacing the rods, then the inner tub is stripped, and the machine is beyond reasonable repair.
The small wheel that the belt grabs. What's that called? You changed the big one but my problem is the small one
The one on the motor? Or the one on the transmission? The one on the motor is called the motor pully, and the one on the transmission is called the transmission pulley
My first washer and dryer set was a speed queen. It was the best set I ever owned and I should have kept it and repaired it.
You saved the day!
I have my washer the same as that one in ur video, mine is stuck on sensing mode it won't go to wash or anything what can I do to fix it?
Thank you for this... was able to troubleshoot this exact washer that I own...bad lid switch
Awesome! Great job!
Thanks for your videos! Super helpful! I have a GTW720BSN0WS Washer--and I tried swapping the door lock and tested the water inlet valve components, but my washer is still not working. I can turn on the machine, it allows me to try to select a cycle, but then after about 5 seconds there's a clicking sound behind the machine and the whole thing turns off? Any ideas? I'm wondering if I need to replace the entire electronics board in the back
Awesome content!! Very nice job!
Appreciate the kind words!
What if its stuck in sensing but the lock light doesnt come on at all. Also wheb I try to recalibrate it the start button seems to not be doing anything
Thank you it worked. But after my wash is finished and clothes in dryer there is water dripping into the tub, i have to turn off the taps
Sounds like you have leaky water inlet valves in the washer.
I hate front loader washers, so big fat NO
I despise front loaders as well!
We had one in our old house and it decided to leak all over the floor, and started jumping and walking across the floor
Mines making a terrible loud grinding noise randomly too. I took it apart and all the gears look fine. I took off the agitator and thwre was a hair ball stuck. I removed it and put it back together and it made grinding noise again. Doesnt seem to happen everytime
Most likely, the clutch assembly. Replace the belt as well (sometimes it will slip and make a load screeching noise)
@@DuctTapeMechanic thank you! Luckily I'm within 1 year so Maytag is sending someone to take a look. No cost supposedly. If I don't like what they say I'll do the repair myself.
The water is constantly flowing even my washer isn’t running any help?
Sounds like bad inlet valves
Thanks was exsactly what you said !!!!!!
